How to read your dogs body language. (Introduction)

Have you ever wanted to have a conversation with your dog? Believe it or not, dogs can actually talk! The problem is that most of us don’t understand what our beloved fur friends are trying to tell us. In order to read a dog and interpret it into their feelings, wants, and needs, you need to look at his/her eyes, ears, tongue, fur, body, and tail position.

If you really tune into your dog you can (almost) read your dog’s mind. This can come in handy if your dog has a behavior that you don’t particularly care for, (like chasing squirrels). If you are out walking your dog & you notice that your he/she is starting to walk slower & is starring down, by reading their body language you can get his/her attention off of the squirrel & onto you. You would also be prepared to issue a verbal & leash correction if the behavior warrants it.
